And a Happy New Year!

So New Year's in a few days, and a lot of people shoot off fireworks, which can make dog owners unhappy. My old dog used to hide under a bed because he was so scared of the noise!! Daisy(my dog) isn't really scared of them, but sometimes she barks. If your dog is a puppy, let him/her sit on your lap(preferably outside) and stroke him/her and talk to him/her softly, so that when he/she gets older, he/she will be less likely to be scared of fireworks or other really loud noises. You can try this with older dogs to; even if it doesn't teach them to be afraid of the noise, at least they will be comforted and might be quiet! =D Or you can play with them, teach them new tricks; anything that distracts them from being frightened. A really good idea(do this before New Years) is to go to your local pet store or butchers and buy some cow ankles or pig's ears(anything that it appropriate size for them, so they can't swallow it). Just try to stay away from rawhide; it isn'...

Puli

These are one of the coolest dogs, in my opinion. They have dread locks! They are born with a curly/wavy coat, and as it grows, it gets tangled and tirns in to dread locks. Pulis are small to medium sized dogs; they weigh from 30-35 lbs. Their dreaded coat varies from rusty black to black gray to white. They have a extremely high energy level. Pulis are expected to live approximately 14-16 yrs. Interestingly, they do not shed at all! They shed within their coat and they need professional gromming. If you have adopted one of these amazing creatures, you should ask your vet about HD, PRA, and vWd, (yes the v is not supposed to be capitalized). Also, cataracts are a good thing to check. Pulis need firm training and owners who enjoy working with dogs.  "Choosing a Dog for Dummies" by Chris Walkowicz

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everybody!!! I love this time of the year; it's my favorite!!!! I love celebrating Christmas because everybody is so cheery and happy, and we get to celebrate Christ's coming to earth: The Real Reason for Christmas!!!!! It is the best gift we could ever get!!!! We(humans) rightfully deserve to die the most horrible death(hell, where we die forever, the worst place ever! It is painful and really just terrible. It truly does scare me to think of it). Christ Jesus came to save you!!!! He came into this terrible, sinful world from a perfect place(heaven) and was born of a virgin! In a tiny, smelly stable where he was placed in the horses and cows hay trough!!!! Then he lived a perfect life, facing all the temptations we face, and never ever messing up or doing wrong!!! And then he was blamed for your sin, was beaten, whipped, punched, spit on, and humiliated because of all the wrong things you have done. That I've done. That your neighbor has done!!! He was cru...

Burn Calories, and make the Dog Happy!

People are so obsessed with calories and cholesterol and whatever else adults worry about(health wise). But so many people are obese these days!!!!! It's sooo confusing!!!!! A good way to burn calories(and still have that chocolate cake in the fridge) is to start running or walking or jogging regularly. Even better, take your dog with you!! They will be happy, you'll be happy, and you'll both lose weight! If you are to busy to run or go to the gym, you can either rearrange your schedule, or, to lose weight, don't eat a lot of junk. Agreat way to do that is to cut out the sugar and carbs. If you want something unhealthy, just say no; studies say that a craving for food will go away in 20 minutes or less. But that's going to make you healthy, but not your dog, so there still is a problem. For your dog, cut down on snackies in between meals. Another thing you can try is swapping out 1/3 of your dog's food for canned pumpkin(do not get the canned pumkin pie stuff, ...

Thanksgiving: What are you Thankful for?

This Thanksgiving, I am really appreciating what I have! It helps a lot when you write down all the things you are thankful for. I am thankful for my family, my friends, my clean room, my toys, my clothes, my house, all of our cars, sports, God(and His love), and everything else!!!! Also think about what your pets are thankful for! A home, a bed, toys, their humans, etc, etc!

Brussels Griffon

So our friends got a new dog: it's a Brussels Griffon!!(his name is Buster)!!!!!! Those dogs are sooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His face is slightly puggish, and his beard and mustache. I mean, COME ON!!!!!!! Who wouldn't want to have a little bearded, pug-like creature running around your house!!! Anyway, Brussels are small dogs, probably about 8-13 lbs. But they are not fragile! They are very sturdy, but small children should not handle these dogs unsupervised, due to there small size. Their body is somewhat square, and they have(like I mentioned earlier) a very bushy, expressive face, almost human-like! Brussels Griffons are generally healthy, and can thrive in apartments, as long as they get daily walks/exercise. They can have smooth or rough coats, and come in 4 colors: red, belge(black and reddish brown), black, and black and tan. You should brush the smooth coats weekly, but rough coats should be professionally hand stripped. Also, start training this dog early! Overall, ...

Dog Show

Image
So there was a dog show at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, and I dragged my family there, as always. It was so cool to see all the different dog breeds!!!! The dogs were so poised and just, well, perfect! There was a boy, probably about 9 or 10, and he was showing a German Shepherd! I was so amazed at how much practice, time, and work he put into that dog! Most of the people were adults, all the way from 20 year olds, to like 1,000,000 year old people! A lot of them are stiff-necked, though! Especially the 40+ people! My dad is a photographer, and he was taking pictures of the dogs, and some of the owners are looking at us like their dogs are more human than we are! So, I like and don't like going to dog shows! Love the breeds, don't like most owners!
