Fall Fashion Pt. 1

Image
Hey there!:) So I loveeee fall: the crunchy leaves, the brilliant colors, the brisk air- it's just all so amazing! Fall means blankets and scarves, hot drinks and cuddles, rosy cheeks and frozen noses, boots and layered clothing. I mean, what is NOT to love about this beautiful season?! Since I love fall fashion so much (for sure one of my favorite seasons clothe wise), I decided to post part one of my fall wardrobe. These are my top picks!:)   This was actually my date night outfit;)   Maroon jacket and cognac riding boots  Army jacket, purple scarf, and gray fuzzy boots:) I got this jacket from a clearance rack for nine bucks!  I love the color of this Nike golf jacket (basically I use it as a windbreaker), I tied the bright green to my pink shoes with this cute scarf:)  Haha soo, I wasn't wearing my shoes in this picture😂 but I would have paired the dark blue plaid and yellow flower necklace with my cognac riding boots!   ...

My Workout Equipment

Image
Hey there! So I wanted to do a post about what I have in my "home gym", since I currently don't have an actual gym membership(hopefully that will be changing soon!). You don't even need any equipment to workout at home (i.e. Pilates), but if you want to get serious it definitely is helpful if you can't get to the gym, or if you just don't want to pay for a membership! Below is a picture of what I keep in my "home gym" (aka my room;)) : Bench (this is actually a piano bench, which currently functions as a chair at my vanity, and can also become a simple workout bench. Yes this is obviously very multipurposeful in my room!) Foam roller: this is a must for runners, or anyone who gets sore muscles! I used it for more than just rolling out my muscles, it can also function as a piece of "workout" equipment  Dumbbells: a type of weight, can be used for many, many, purposes. I have one 40 lbs, a pair of 20 lbs, and a pair of 15 lbs Kettle ...

Because it was a late game, we spent the night up in Portland, and spent a majority of the next day exploring the Adidas HQ, and Pacific University!! Aka, my dreammmm college!:) It was so exciting to explore the campus, I even got a shirt! :D   Oh and we stopped at a little place for coffee, and I ordered a Matcha Latte :)) it was super yummy, not to mention beautiful:)  Anyways though, it was such a fun trip, so awesome to see my baby rock the championship game, which they won!!  Until next time, ~Hannah

Tip of the Day: How to Eat More Greens

Image
Hey there:) So today's topic is about how to incorporate more greens(such as spinach, kale, lettuce, etc) into your diet. Eating a salad once or twice a day can become tedious to prepare, and let's be honest, kind of boring and bland for our taste buds. There are plenty of ways to make a salad taste GOOD and still be good for you! I like to call them "hearty" salads- these typically include other ingredients besides just vegetables, such as quinoa, black/ kidney beans, chicken/other lean meat, etc. These protein sources will not only add flavor and texture to the salad, they will actually fill you up. But sometimes preparing a good salad just doesn't happen- this could result from a time issue, or even because "I just don't want to make a salad". If I'm running short on time, there are super simple ways to "eat your greens" with out the meal even tasting like them! Below is a bowl of chili, just topped with a handful of greens! This ...

Healthy Salad Dressing Alternatives

Do you think salads are the most boring and flavorless food ever? I will tell you how to make them so much yummier, with out adding hundreds of calories!! I personally lovee salads, when made correctly of course;) But there are those occasions I just do not want to eat my greens :/ However, knowing you don't have to fork down plain spinach can make eating a salad a much easier victory. One way, as most of us know, is to add a dressing. Unfortunately, that flavor can pack a calorie-loaded punch. But fear no longer! Here are some healthier alternatives to a typical salad dressing: Olive Oil: Okay, this one might not add much flavor, however it does supply the healthy fat you need, and will help bind the salad together Vinegar: Usually added with olive oil, there are varieties of flavors of vinegar, so go ahead and experiment to find your favorite! Cottage Cheese: Flavor, as well as protein boost! Just add a spoonful or two of cottage cheese to your salad, and not only will it b...

Wardrobe Picks: Spring and Summer

Image
Hi! Today I am going to share with you a couple of my favorite outfits:) I dress stylishly modest, I love using accessories to boost an outfit from "okay" to "hooray!". A vivid or patterned scarf will always bring that desired "pop" of color to an otherwise gray outfit; I love my converse, and I love you, my dear shirt, but the pretty blue makes you that much better:) I love love lovee finding cute, simple tops(the pocket makes it that much more adorable!). I paired it with medium-dark denim, a skinny belt, and my beloved Burks;) Perfect simple tee, with ripped denim, and colored vans- lovee it! The turquoise turtle necklace brings the color from the shoes up to the neckline. Cute printed blouse, along with stacked rings and a blush watch; it even has sparkles!!

Carb-loading for 13.1 Miles

Image
The last three days, the final 72 hours, before the big race!! I'm so excited, and nervous too. But I will trust in God, and know I have done my best to train my body for this race. Unfortunately, I did some damage to the muscle above my hip bone(I believe the transverse abdominus; the same muscle I need to strengthen/activate to help with my back pain- coincidence? I think not!), and I could only run 2 miles one day, but after running in volleyball practice, it helped to stretch and loosen it up, I was able to run yesterday without incredible pain. My goal is to finish the half marathon, of course I would love to run the whole dang thing because I know I can, however I do NOT want to tear this muscle, so I may have to walk, in order to spare my body. So on top of light training(either running two miles, volleyball practice, or weight training), the last three days before the race I have been carb-loading. My calorie goal per day was 1300-1500 calories per day, with about 70% of t...

Final Week: Half Marathon

Heyo! So sorry, its been literally forever since last time :'''( But here I am! And I am determined, resolved, to be actively posting:) I started this blog a couple years ago, and the sole focus was dogs; however then I added the topics of "hair" as well as "health". But now I am 100% focused on fitness, nutrition, basically anything that applies to your overall health and well-being(just a heads up, its a possibility that I may post about organization or productivity as well, I am huge on those!). I am hoping that sometime in the future, I can post my workouts for you to follow, as well as detailed **healthy, nutritious, yummy** meals, etc, etc. But, unfortunately, I'm not quite there yet:/ Now onto the main focus of this post: Half marathon-ing!! Yes, it's true, I have been training for a half marathon, which is on August 20th!! Exactly one week from today, yikes!! I'm very excited, and while I have never completed that distance before, ...
