Dog Breeds: Which One Is Right For You?
There are SOOO many different dog breeds out there, and even more are being created!!! So, which dog breed fits your life style? First, you have to decide what size dog you want(remember, the bigger the dog is, the more food it's going to eat, the poop is bigger, etc.). If you live in an apartment, a smaller dog is probably a better choice than a Saint Bernard. Once you have decided on a size that is good for your family, then you should look at temperament, energy, trainability, and whatever else you have a concern for. There are a lot of "Dog Breed Selectors/Quiz". I have done just about every single one of them out there, and I would say my favorite is the Animal Planet "Dog Breed Selector". It asks good questions, and doesn't take very long to answer. Almost no dog is going to be a 100% perfect match. And make sure to check the "Runner Uppers", also. I just did this test again(I usually get different answers every time, unless you mark the same answers every time), and I got a 100% match: the Shetland Sheepdog. It was the first time ever I got a perfect match!! So, have fun, and make sure you decide as a family to get a dog, they are a lot of responsibility!!(but lots-no, TONS of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!)

ReplyDeleteI agree people should think about breed characteristics, size, and common behavior when choosing a dog... also take into consideration the climate of where they live in! Over here it's almost like the tropics and yet some people get Huskies and similar winter-fur dogs...

Yes! I totally agree! Dogs can suffer so much from the climate that they live in! It is heart-breaking to see Chihuahuas in Alaska, or Huskies in Hawaii!
